All About Aphasia and Dysphagia | TOYL Celebration



Did you know that different neurological conditions like dementia, Parkinson's disease, and stroke can cause difficulty with communication (aphasia), and swallowing (dysphagia)? Aphasia and/ or dysphagia impact quality of life and can lead to social isolation and other problems. Caregivers can now learn ways to support communication and manage swallowing difficulties of their loved ones.

This interactive workshop will address the following:

- Types of communication disorders with spotlight on aphasia

- Basic tips to improve communication with those who have communication disorders

- How to identify signs of swallowing difficulties

- Diet and fluid modification for treatment of dysphagia
